Edel & Keith Engagement Photo Shoot

Hi Friends
This photo shoot is from Edel & Keith’s engagement, we took a trip toward the scenic village of Carlingford, it was a somewhat overcast evening, with the sun barely setting behind Slieve Foy mountain, which was covered at the top by some dramatic clouds so we knew we where not going to get the kind of evening i had hoped for, i was looking for a nice red sky as a back drop to the images i was going to make of Edel & Keith.
We took a walk just across the road to the side of the lough, it was really quite beautiful, with the water so still & King Johns castle in the background, very nice indeed. I had said to Edel & keith to just relax & let things happen naturaly, in my opinion that is what makes for the best kind of photographs. We walked toward the shore round the back of the lough where we could see right across Carlingford Bay, with the Mourne Mountains in full bloom with the setting sun, lighting them up beautifully & also Edel & keith…. :)
The shoot was going perfectly, keith & Edel made for a great couple, to make images of, they where both very relaxed & seemed to enjoy having their picture made, a few more shots In & around the lough & we where almost done, the sun had gone, the water was still & the reflections of Carlingford, on the lough water where……. well a picture :)
Please find below a sample of  the photograps made that day, click twice to see full image.

Brianna 9 weeks old

Hi All
Baby Brianna, 9 weeks old, mum, dad & granny arrive at my studio, for Brianna’s baby photographs, with Brianna being only 9 weeks old, I have to be quite creative in how the photo shoot will go, as we can hardly ask her to sit one way or the other, she can barely hold her head up, lol!
Even though my studio setup, has a series of lights, lighting, i just use the one light with soft box, from Brianna’s left hand side @ different light setting to create some nice shadow effects, & with a black back drop the images are starting to look really good & she is the cutest little baby.
I ask Mum & Dad to strip little Brianna down & i want them to both take one end each, so dad takes her legs & mum takes her shoulder area, set the lights & shoot, the photographs are fantastic, really beautiful, i work on a few more shots without her clothes, with her lovely skin tones they work really well.
Then it is time to put on her Christening Gown, that her Great Granny knitted from pure wool, i put the throw that Brianna’s Great Granny knitted also over a large bean bag & set the lights, oh wahooo! she looks like a little baby angel.
Thanks to Brianna for being such a cute little baby & also Mum, Dad, Granny & Great Granny for the lovely knitted Gown.
Please enjoy a few of the images created by Andrew Mackin Photography.

Bernadette & Mathew, Wedding day.

Hi Friends
This was the wedding of Bernadette & Mathew.
Let me first start by telling you a funny little thing, that happened the evening before the wedding, i went to the wedding practice which i always do, to get to know everyone before the big day, including the priest, so i get to know his boundaries, as regards photography, using flash ect.
Anyhow, landed at the church, the Dominican brothers in Newry, introduced myself to Father Fearon, the bride & groom arrived soon after, which is where its gets funny, they had already signed the marriage papers which where supposed to be signed after the ceremony, so we had a few giggles about that even the Priest thought it was a hoot! but not too worry we got it sorted for the following day all ready for the Wedding.
Morning arrived, i get myself sorted all my photography gear together, got my hair done, next door to my studio, in Urban Roots, good girls, you done a great job with my curls lol!!!!
So off i head to Bernadette’s house in Newry, i walked into the house & Theresa mother of the bride was quite nervous about the day ahead, but a few choice word from myself & i made her worse, lol! only kidding she was great. Bernadette came down the stairs, just for a quick chat about how the photos where going to go at the house, she had not got her bridal gown on as yet, but her hair was beautifully done she looked amazing! so i started to do what i do best & make photographs, little Leigh Bernadette & Mathews little girl & flower girl for the day, was all excited about the day ahead & of course she looked so pretty, with lovely curly hair.
I continued to photograph, the girls getting there makeup ready, for the wedding ahead, took a couple of nice shots of them in the mirror in the bedroom & continued on to make some nice images of the bridal wear before the Lady’s got dressed. Bride Bernadette comes down the stairs, she looked so beautiful, in her gorgeous wedding gown, Groom Mathew was in for a real treat, when he See’s his beautiful bride to be at the alter.
So ladys, i say, i am off to the church to meet the guys, have fun & dont be too nervous, remember as i said you are all stars for a day & enjoy as much as you can because it will go so quickly.
I arrive at the church just in time for the guys, they seem a lot more at ease compared to the girls, we talk for a little while sharing a few jokes ect, they all look very handsome in there wedding suits, so i start to make some really nice images of the men outside the church, awaiting the brides arrival, i take a cool photograph of Groom Mathew & Best Man Darren looking at there watches, wondering where the bride is, looks good i say, & take some more shots of the guests arriving, all looking there very best.
Bride is just down the street, i say, guys its about time you got yourself into the church, you don’t want to see the bride yet, the guys head in & take there places as practiced. Arriving first were the Bridesmaid Darragh, Brides mum Theresa, & Flower girl Leigh. They look pretty as a picture getting out of the large black car & just behind  is Bride Bernadette & Brides Father James, they arrive in an old time car looked really well, James helps Bernadette out of the car they don’t seem as nervous now, that they are here, they mingle with the guests for a short while before the big walk down the aisle, it must be nearly 60 meters long. i get some beautiful shots of them all walking down the long aisle.
The bride & Groom meet at the alter, i catch a good shot of Groom Mathew, looking his gorgeous bride up & down with the biggest smile on his face & he whispers something into Bernadette’s ear, don’t know what he said but she gave him a huge big smile, oooh so lovely!! :)
The ceromoney begins & the priest give’s a short talk about marrige which gets a few laughs from the the guests.
I can see that the Bride & groom are not so nervous now, the priest puts them at ease & makes for some nice photographs. Moving swiftly on to the actual wedding vows & the exchanging of the rings, all goes very well indeed, Bride & groom are now married & after some prayers & readings the mass is over & New Bride Bernadette & Groom Mathew, go to sign the wedding licence along with, Best Man Darren & Bridesmaid Darragh.
Outside the church lots of guests want to congratulate the new Bride & Groom & so after we go into the lovely gardens of the Dominican church to make some nice imagery of Bride, Groom & Bridal party, all goes very well & i will attach some of the photos at the end of this blog.
We have finished photographing in the gardens & we head off to Warrenpoint shore, where we will make some more nice shots of Bernadette & Mathew & party, i get some nice images of the lovely couple & the Bridal party with the backdrop of the Mourne & Cooley Mountains, terrific!! After about 30 minutes or so taking pictures at Warrenpoint shore, we make a move toward Narrow Water Castle, to get a few quick shots of the Bride, Groom & bridal Party at the Narrow Water Keep, turned out really beautiful!!
As we continue on our journey back toward Newry & to the Wedding reception, which was being held at the wonderful Canal Court Hotel Newry. This is where i will make some images of the bride & Groom with some of there friends family & guests alike & then do a mock cut of the cake, all went very well.
Bernadette & Mathew asked me to stay for the wedding meal, which i decided i would & i had a lovely meal & a great time with some of the guests, i did not stay too late but i enjoyed myself while i was there & i am sure everyone had a great night.
This is just a blog of my day at the wonderful wedding of Bernadette & Mathew, please find a small sample of the images made on the day.
Congratulations to the Bride & Groom, hope you have an amazing time on your honeymoon.
Kindest regards Andrew.http://www.andrewmackinphotography.com/bernadette-mathew-wedding-day

St.paul's High School Formal

Friday Night was the third year in a row i have photographed St.Paul’s high school formal, in the Canal Court hotel Newry & was a really great night, all the guy’s, girl’s & of course teachers looked fabulous in there evening wear, some amazing cloth on show,  from some of Ireland’s leading fashion designers i am sure….
The evening started around 7.30pm, everyone started to arrive & the excitement was starting to show on students faces & they where sure they were going to have a great night ahead, there was a steady stream of students all lining up to have there photograph taken in there glad rags, the fashion was something els indeed! I had really fun time with the students directing them into some fantastic poses, which the really seemed to enjoy, we had some great laughs!
The evening steadied on through the meal & on to the awards ceremony, the craic was really buzzing, two of the students were acting as compares for the evening handing out awards & giving everyone great laughs at the same time, i think these guys could be the new Ant & Dec!! One of the awards was, who would be most likely to be a catwalk model, well my vote goes to everyone, you all looked AMAZING!! :)
After the awards there where lots more photographs taken, even the teachers joined in, guys you where some craic!! :)
Well done to everyone, hope you all had a wonderful evening, thanks again Andrew.
